Description
TB-500 is the acetylated seven-residue fragment of Thymosin β4 containing the actin-binding sequence. It is not the full-length protein, and that distinction matters when reading the literature.
What you are buying
A single 5 mg vial of lyophilised Ac-LKKTETQ from batch VL-2611-A. Identity is confirmed by LC-MS against the expected fragment mass of 889.02 g/mol, and the observed mass is stated on the certificate of analysis alongside purity, water content, acetate content and endotoxin.
Which molecule this is
Much of what is described online as “TB-500 research” was performed using full-length Thymosin β4, a 43-residue protein, not this seven-residue fragment. Findings for one do not automatically transfer to the other. We supply the fragment, and we say so plainly.
Research context
Thymosin β4 is a well-characterised actin-sequestering protein, and that part of the cell biology is established and uncontroversial. Work involving the fragment concentrates on cell migration assays where the relevant activity maps to the actin-binding region.
There is no established human efficacy evidence base for the fragment. Early-phase human trials in this area used full-length Tβ4. The research overview separates the two literatures, and research applications states which molecule each body of work used.
Handling
