Storage of lyophilised material
TB-500 is supplied lyophilised and should be kept that way until required. As with any lyophilised peptide, the powder is markedly more stable than the reconstituted solution.

Solvent and concentration
TB-500 is readily soluble in aqueous solvent. Sterile or bacteriostatic water is the usual choice for a laboratory stock. For a 5 mg vial:

Our current batch reports 3.6% water and 8.4% acetate. If your work needs accurate molar concentration, subtract both from vial mass before calculating — nominal mass is not peptide mass.
Technique
- Bring the vial to room temperature before opening, to avoid condensation onto the powder.
- Disinfect the stopper and let it dry.
- Add solvent down the vial wall rather than directly onto the cake.
- Let it dissolve undisturbed; swirl gently if needed. Do not shake or vortex aggressively.
- Confirm the solution is clear and particulate-free before use.
- Aliquot immediately into single-use volumes and freeze what is not being used now.
Labelling
Record compound, batch number, concentration, solvent and date on every aliquot. Batch number is what ties your working stock back to a published certificate of analysis, and without it the analytical data is orphaned from the material.
Frequently asked questions
Is TB-500 stable in aqueous solution?
Less stable than in lyophilised form. Aqueous stocks are treated as short-lived at refrigeration temperature; frozen single-use aliquots are the standard approach for longer storage.
Does freeze-thaw matter that much?
Yes. Repeated freeze–thaw is one of the most common and most avoidable causes of peptide stock degradation. Aliquot once, thaw once.
