Topical vs injectable GHK-Cu
We present GHK-Cu in a topical frame. That is a deliberate decision, and this page explains the reasoning rather than leaving you to infer it.
The short version
Essentially all of the substantial, credible published research on GHK-Cu concerns topical application or in vitro skin models. There is no comparable body of evidence for systemic administration. We frame the compound the way the evidence sits, not the way demand sits.
Where the evidence actually is
The GHK-Cu literature is unusually mature for a compound in this category — it goes back decades and includes work published in mainstream dermatological and cosmetic-science venues. Almost all of it falls into three groups:
- in vitro work in fibroblast culture and reconstructed skin models;
- ex vivo work on skin explants;
- controlled topical studies assessing cosmetic endpoints such as skin density, roughness and appearance.
What is largely absent is a comparable body of controlled work on systemic administration in humans, with characterised pharmacokinetics and safety data.
Why that asymmetry exists
Partly because GHK-Cu found a genuine commercial application as a cosmetic ingredient, which funded topical research. Partly because copper delivery raises questions in a systemic context that it does not raise in a surface-limited one — copper is an essential trace element with a narrow window between requirement and excess, and systemic copper load is a real consideration rather than a theoretical one.
Topical application to a defined surface area is a fundamentally different exposure question from systemic administration, and the research reflects that.
What we are not saying
We are not claiming that topical GHK-Cu produces any particular result. Cosmetic-endpoint studies measure cosmetic endpoints under study conditions, and we make no promise about what any formulation does.
